On August 5, 2026, Business Insider published “The AI bros are lonely” by Henry Chandonnet. It syndicated to Yahoo and AOL the same day. I am quoted in it, and the piece opens on me.

The quotes are accurate. I said those words to the reporter and I stand behind every one of them. Henry did the job well and the story is fair.

What a feature covering five people cannot do is carry any one person’s full position. That is arithmetic, not a complaint. A line that runs in a story is the compressed version by design, and the compression is the writer’s job, not a failure of it.

Two of these are direct quotes I gave. The other four are the article’s framing rather than my words, and they are marked that way, because treating a writer’s summary as a quotation would misrepresent the piece.

True, and I would say it again. What six words cannot carry is the reason. House AI is live around the world. The tools available to a builder right now are better than anything I will get to use for the first time again, and that window is finite.

The desk is not a cage. It is where the work is. I chose it, I can leave it, and on the days the work is done I do.

This is the line I most want to finish, because the short version reads like the opposite of what I meant. It sounds like I am the only person holding a light. That is not it.

Everybody has a flashlight. Everybody is holding one right now. Most people have not turned it on, or they are pointing it at the floor. The picture is about a tool sitting unused in a lot of hands, not about one person being ahead of everybody else.

The piece of this that did not make the page is a number. Pew Research found that 49% of US adults used AI chatbots in early 2026. Four percent described their use as almost constant. I am in that four percent.

Most people I meet are not there yet. That is where the curve is, not a personality. It explains more about the shape of my week than anything about how I get along with people, and it is the kind of thing that resolves as the four percent grows.

This is the one I would change, and not because it was unkind. I explained it badly in the moment.

Arshroop is my business partner and the person I work with every day. He is not the whole list. There is a founder in New York building an app, somebody in Alaska, somebody in Tallahassee, a friend in Argentina. House AI runs around the world, so the people I need to talk to are spread out the same way.

The honest version is that my community moved before I did. It is distributed and it is mostly text and voice. Calling that no community assumes a definition of the word that stopped matching how I actually live.

My objection is to one word. Fans. AI is not Taylor Swift. It is a tool, and nobody is a fan of a hammer.

Fandom is passive: you consume the thing and you defend it online. Building with a tool is the opposite activity. We are early, and early is not the same as devoted.
